Text Box: Spring visited us early in March with the traditional Daylight Savings Time and one wonderful 65 degree day! Quickly following those first signs of warmer times to come, an ice storm swooped down upon us, and we had our first significant snow event. Dan, Andy, Terry, and Bill worked very long hours over the second week-end in March to keep our roads and parking lots clear. We all want to thank them for doing such a great job!
With spring just around the corner, everyone should be reminded that driving a golf cart without a driver’s license is a violation. Please call 911 to report anyone underage who is operating a golf cart. The police will respond. With the coming of the warmer weather and residents returning for the summer season, we anticipate that our dog population will increase significantly. Please respect your neighbors and other dog walkers. Remember to keep your dog leashed no matter how well behaved he/she may be. It’s hard to anticipate how others may feel about your pet. We will also be adding another dog station in the Village for your convenience.
Our attorney, Ron Shubert, joined the Board for our February 28th meeting. The focus of discussion was our Declaration. Last year’s Declaration Committee spent many hours working on this project. Thankfully, Ron will be able to use a sizable portion of that original Declaration so all the previous efforts will not go to waste. The first draft of this Document will be ready for the Board’s review in about 30 days. We will make our comments and then return the document to Ron.
In February, the Board voted to have the Villager become a bi-monthly publication. With our community expanding at such a rapid rate, the preparation for a monthly mailing was becoming extremely time consuming and expensive.
Our Community Center has been a busy place this winter. Two Neighbors’ Nights were held there with the Great Room and the beautiful fireplace being the main attraction. Many children and their families visited the Youth Center during February vacation where they played pool, table tennis, and board games. The Fitness Center remains extremely popular and is utilized every day. All winter long an Open Art Studio was held every Tuesday and Thursday for those who wanted to come and work in a friendly comfortable atmosphere with other aspiring artists. Each Wednesday morning there was a coffee hour where friends and neighbors could sit and relax.
The first spring project for the Community Center will be a new front walk with lights. We had to wait patiently for the ground to settle before this could start. The remaining pavers have been ordered and will be put in place as soon as the weather allows. Dan and Andy worked on inside projects this winter when not keeping our roads and parking lots free of ice and snow. They built new benches for the shower rooms, painted the storage room floors and built shelves for the television in the activity center downstairs so that it is now enclosed.
In October of this year a resident of Bristol Harbour will be selected to receive the ‘Citizen of the Year’ award. It is not too soon to be thinking of your candidate. Last year Bill Coleman was our very first award winner. All residents are urged to nominate an individual based on his or her service, achievements, and commitment to Bristol Harbour. Please address nominations to:

Bristol Harbour Village Citizen of the Year Award
30 Golfside Circle, Canandaigua, NY 14424

The envelopes will remain confidential for Committee review only. If you have any questions please contact Richard Booth.
All of us are anxiously awaiting the warmer weather and look forward to seeing everyone back here at Bristol Harbour for a wonderful summer season.
